“God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9
Unfortunately our human nature is very much against being faithful. God alone has the ability to be faithful, that is, unmovable in His promises. Granted we can try our hardest to keep the goals we have set or the promises we have made, but in setting goals or making promises we do so within a limited vision of what lies ahead and what direction our steps will take us. God alone has the ability to see the future and know what circumstances life will bring our way.
Because of our limited vision God knows it is beyond us to be faithful as He is faithful. Instead He has made a way for us to enter into His faithfulness through Jesus Christ. Our verse today says that our faithful God has called each believer into fellowship with Jesus. It is in this fellowship, or relationship, with Jesus that God the Father shows us His faithfulness and allows us the ability to live within that faithfulness.
In walking day by day with Jesus, He teaches us how to look at life through God’s eyes; how to see the work of the Spirit around us; how to apply the word of God in our lives; how to react to the circumstances life brings; how to approach the unknown that lies ahead; how to love others with an unselfish love; how to bring light into a dark world; how to bring joy to the down trodden; how to forgive those who hurt us; how to wait on God; and how to pray in all things. On our own we can do nothing, but when we abide in Jesus Christ, that is where fruit it to be found and our ability to remain faithful dwells. (John 15:5)
