No Middle Ground

But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.” Romans 5:15

By one man’s single act, sin entered the world and became a yoke which tied every human being to the mastermind of sin -Satan.  By one man’s single act, forgiveness of sin entered the world and became a means to be released from the yoke which enslaved mankind, therefore allowing man the choice to remove the yoke which bound him to Satan and instead put on the yoke which bound him to Christ.

I was once asked by a woman why she should make the choice to wear any yoke at all.  She further went on to explain that wearing a yoke would bring baggage for her to carry and would be restricting in nature.  I was thankful for that question because it put words to the lie many believers hold true – that there is a middle ground between being yoked to Satan and being yoked to Christ.  But that is a lie Satan has been telling for as long as sin has existed.

If the belief of a middle ground has been something you have entertained I am sorry to tell you the truth, but you have two choices in this world – to be yoked with Satan OR to be yoked with Christ.  But the good news is that through Christ you have a choice.  Before Jesus Christ came into this world and died on the cross as a sacrifice that would once and for all redeem mankind of its slavery to sin, there was no choice, only poor substitutes that removed the amount of baggage the yoke of Satan held.  (I am speaking of the animal sacrifices done in the temple.)

Tomorrow, in my blog, I will take a closer look at that yoke Jesus Christ provides and explore the wonderful aspects of its design.  Until then prayerfully consider your yoke choice and the gift that has been offered to you through Jesus that you no longer have to be a slave to sin, but instead a partaker of God’s gift of grace and forgiveness.
