“I will lift up my eyes to the hills – From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” Psalm 121:1-8
What a glorious Sabbath to celebrate the maker of heaven and earth! The above verses remind us of the fact, that when we lift our eyes off the cares of this world and seek to look at God alone, He is able to be all He promises to be in our life:
- Our designer
- Our helper
- Our navigator
- Our watch guard
- Our protector
Taking a day of rest just to focus on God alone and His ability to provide in our weaken human state – yes there is no perfection in living life on our own since our selfish ways are always at war with our desire to live for “good” purposes – is what the Sabbath is all about. Rest for our soul only comes when we stop striving and allow God to work in our lives without our interfering.
I pray your day has been a day of resting in the Lord Jesus who is able to provide for all of your needs and more, if you should only allow Him to be the Lord of your life.
