Israel Has Not Been Forgotten

I am the Lord, who makes all things,
Who stretches out the heavens all alone,
Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself...
Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’
To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’”
Isaiah 44:24, 26

With the news focusing more and more around Israel and the heightened conflict in the Middle East, I found the above verses I took out of Isaiah 44 (the fuller context is laid out below) captivating to read and ponder. God has not forgotten Israel, but in due time He will restore His nation. In the past God gave an example of what the restoration would look like as He used the king of Persia, Cyrus, to allow the exiles to return to their homeland. But there is a more perfect example of the true Shepherd who will gather the nation of Israel back together for its final restoration – Jesus, the King of the Jews.

Remember these, O Jacob,
And Israel, for you are My servant;
I have formed you, you are My servant;
O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me!
I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions,
And like a cloud, your sins.
Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”
Sing, O heavens, for the Lord has done it!
Shout, you lower parts of the earth;
Break forth into singing, you mountains,
O forest, and every tree in it!
For the Lord has redeemed Jacob,
And glorified Himself in Israel.

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,
And He who formed you from the womb:
'I am the
Lord, who makes all things,
Who stretches out the heavens all alone
,
Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;
Who frustrates the signs of the babblers,
And drives diviners mad;
Who turns wise men backward,
And makes their knowledge foolishness;
Who confirms the word of His servant,
And performs the counsel of His messengers;
Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’
To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’
And I will raise up her waste places;
Who says to the deep, ‘Be dry!

Who says of Cyrus, 'He is My shepherd
And he shall perform all My pleasure.
Saying to Jerusalem, 'You shall be built,'
And to the temple, 'Your foundation shall be laid.'”
Isaiah 44:21 – 28

Jesus is the One who has come and the One who will come again to gather the nation of Israel back to the Lord and He alone will finally bring peace where unrest has been the way of life since Israel was first set apart as the children of the Lord.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting...

Then the remnant of His brethren
Shall return to the children of Israel.
And He shall stand and feed His flock
In the strength of the
Lord,
In the majesty of the name of the
Lord His God;
And they shall abide,
For now He shall be great
To the ends of the earth;
And this One shall be peace...”
Micah 5:2-5a

(These articles above are but a few of the many that are out there and that are coming in daily regarding Israel.  I would love to have my readers add any articles they feel led to add to what I have above.  Please feel free to make a comment on this post and include the link to your article.)

We cannot sit back as Christians and say that what is going on in Israel does not concern us. The bible is to be taken in its entirety and that means we, the predominately Gentile nation who are saved by adoption, are not the original sons and daughters of the great I AM. Our duty to our siblings through the adoption we have been given, is to shine our lights all the more brightly and to pray for them all the more earnestly as their time of restoration draws near.

My prayer for all of us who hold the truth of what these news worthy events mean within the ultimate plan of God, is that the peace of the Lord and the promise of His inheritance to us adopted may richly dwell in our lives as we watch the news unfold and in turn point us to the most glorious future tomorrow with our Savior, Jesus Christ and with our brothers and sisters of Israel who finally see the Savior they have been waiting for.
