“...the Father of lights...whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17b
When your thoughts go to God, do you tend to look at Him personified in human likeness? As a human, it is normal for us to look to God and think of Him in human terms because those are the only terms we understand and view our current situations from. But, our human form is flawed and sinful (filled with dark areas which we have to fight to bring God's light into each day), there are variations among each of us and those variations are disproportionate in many facets as we compare ourselves to one another. God on the other hand is complete, whole, unvarying, and without any dark spots, the image of perfection and the source of the light that we as humans only have the ability to reflect – not create within our own beings like He can.
Here are some further verses to meditate upon as you consider your view of God from your human perspective. In no way can we truly ever come to grips with who God is and what He really looks like in His complete and perfect form, because our minds are not able to comprehend His likeness. But, in taking God's word for who He is and all that He is beyond us, we can at least come to a point of humility before Him as we realize that He is way beyond our comprehension and our figuring out.
“'For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord.
'For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.'” Isaiah 5:8-9
“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” Numbers 19:23
May you feel blessed today in at least knowing that all God is beyond your understanding is more than you will ever need to live within the peace and love of His promises.
